Chapter 9 - A Fresh Chapter at MeridianA year later, the sprawling, ivy-covered campus of Meridian University hummed with the vibrant energy of autumn orientation week.

Jordan stood on the front steps of the main campus library, holding a stack of heavy calculus textbooks against his chest. The morning sun broke through the golden leaves of the massive oak trees, casting a warm, peaceful glow across the quad.
His phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see a text message from Maya Chen, who was now a freshman tech analyst intern at a major Silicon Valley startup:
“Hey collegiate! Don't forget we're facetime-studying tonight for finals. And wear your Meridian scholarship hoodie—you earned every single thread of it!”
Jordan smiled, typing back a quick confirmation before slipping the phone away.
As he turned to walk toward the lecture hall, a familiar face caught his eye near the fountain. It was Leo Whitmore, working a summer groundskeeping job on campus, wearing a high-vis vest and pushing a maintenance cart. Leo looked older, worn down by humility and the harsh lessons of a very public downfall. Their eyes met across the paved plaza for a split second.

Leo didn't look away with arrogance this time. Instead, he offered a quiet, respectful nod of acknowledgment—a silent recognition of a debt that could never fully be repaid, and a past that could never be rewritten.
Jordan nodded back neutrally, offering no malice, only closure. Then, he turned around and walked forward into his bright, uncompromised future.
