Chapter 4 - The Midnight ConfessionBy midnight, the story wasn't just a school scandal—it was a national trending topic. The hashtag #JusticeForJordan was number one worldwide, and news vans were parked three deep outside the Whitmore family residence.

Inside the house, the atmosphere was suffocating.
Leo Whitmore, the golden-boy scholarship recipient whose future was supposed to be untarnished, sat at the kitchen island with his head in his hands. His phone buzzed relentlessly on the granite countertop, flashing hate comments and cancellation threats by the thousands.
The front door unlocked with a heavy click. Eleanor Whitmore walked in, looking twenty years older than she had that morning. Her designer blazer was wrinkled, her eyes hollow and bloodshot.
"Mom," Leo whispered, looking up. "What did you do? The committee just emailed. They're revoking my full ride. They said an integrity review was triggered because of... because of what happened on the video."
Eleanor stared at her son, the fierce, manic protection that had driven her to terrorize a child suddenly curdling into absolute horror. "They can't do that," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "You earned that scholarship. You worked for it."
"No, Mom... I didn't," Leo said, his voice breaking as he looked down at the floor.
Eleanor froze. "What are you talking about?"

Leo swallowed hard, tears finally spilling over his eyelashes. "I didn't score high enough on the final Meridian exam. I missed the cutoff by two points. I... I panicked. I used your faculty login to hack the portal and shift Jordan's score into my profile. I’m the one who stole it, Mom. You didn't just terrorize an innocent kid for nothing... you did it to cover up for a crime I committed."
The kitchen went dead silent, save for the hum of the refrigerator. Eleanor stared at her son, the ground seeming to vanish entirely beneath her feet.
