Chapter 1 - The Toast That Shattered the Roomđ„ CLICKBAIT TITLE: SHE BROUGHT HER TO MY ANNIVERSARY, MADE ME SIT AT THE KIDS' TABLE... BUT THEN I RAISED MY GLASS AND SAID 3 WORDS THAT MADE HUSBANDâS BLOOD TURN ICE COLD!

The clink of silver against crystal died down as Danielâs uncle, forced into uncomfortable silence by the bizarre atmosphere, tapped his fork against his water glass.
"Well," Uncle Robert muttered, clearing his throat. "To Daniel and... uh, Emma. Eleven years."
Daniel didn't lift his glass immediately. His eyes remained locked on me, sitting all the way down at the edge of the long, mahogany table. Between us lay twenty-five faces of complicit silence, expensive candles, and a suffocating aura of betrayal. Claire, bold and triumphant, nudged Danielâs shoulder and whispered something in his ear. He didn't pull away. He just forced a tight, rigid smile and raised his champagne flute halfway.
"To eleven years," Daniel said, his voice echoing slightly in the private room.
I didn't wait for anyone else. I stood up, my chair scraping sharply against the hardwood floor. Every head snapped toward me. Margaretâs eyes narrowed into sharp slits, clearly bracing herself for a scene.
Instead, I raised my flute high, letting the amber liquid catch the warm restaurant lighting.
"Eleven years is a very long time," I said, my voice cutting through the room with absolute, terrifying calm. "Itâs long enough to build a life. Long enough to build a multi-million-dollar empire from scratch. And, as it turns out... long enough to realize when an investment has gone completely bankrupt."
Danielâs hand froze halfway to his mouth. His fingers whitened around the stem of his glass.
"To new beginnings," I smiled directly at Claire, whose smug expression flickered for a fraction of a second. "And to total liquidation. Cheers."
I took a slow sip, set the glass down, and reached into my designer handbag. I pulled out a heavy, cream-colored envelope sealed with a gold corporate stampâa document that hadn't left my side all day.

Danielâs eyes dropped to the envelope. The color completely drained from his face. For the first time all evening, the arrogant, untouchable posture of a cheating husband crumbled into sheer, unadulterated panic. He knew that envelope. Or rather, he knew the logo stamped upon it.
And the night had barely even begun.
