Chapter 3 - INSIDE THE TITAN’S BELLY

The armored transport descended deep beneath the city ruins, plunging past subterranean layers that maps forgot existed. When the vehicle finally ground to a halt, the doors hissed open to reveal a world straight out of a nightmare.
It was a sprawling, subterranean metropolis of cold steel, neon-blue holographic displays, and endless rows of humming server towers. This was the headquarters of the Apex Directorate—a monolithic corporation that had secretly engineered the "natural" disaster to wipe the slate clean and seize total control of the city’s energy grid.
Leo and the girl, whose name he learned was Maya, were shoved down a labyrinth of sterile white corridors by armed guards. The air here was artificially purified, smelling sharply of ozone and bleach.
They were marched into a cavernous obsidian amphitheater. At the center stood a colossal glass cylinder filled with a swirling, luminescent green fluid. Suspended inside was a massive, beating mechanical heart interwoven with organic neural tissue—the Nexus Prime, the supercomputer controlling the city's weather, surveillance, and automated military grid.
Standing before the cylinder was Director Marcus Thorne. He was a man of sharp angles, silver hair, and eyes as cold and dead as winter ice. He wore a pristine white suit that remained untouched by the ash of the world above.
"Magnificent, isn't it?" Thorne murmured, turning slowly to face the trembling children. His gaze drifted past Maya and locked entirely onto Leo. "Welcome, young Mr. Vance. Or should I say... the final heir to the architect."
Leo recoiled, his voice shaking. "I don't know who you are! Let us go!"
Thorne chuckled, a dry, papery sound. "Let you go? My dear boy, your father stole the master encryption key and hid it inside a sentimental trinket before our little 'storm' wiped him out. For ten years, I’ve searched every corner of the ruins for that pendant. And now, the universe has delivered it straight to my doorstep."
May you like
Thorne snapped his fingers. Two guards stepped forward, violently wrenching Leo’s fist open and ripping the silver pendant from his grasp.
As the artifact was slotted into the central control pedestal beneath the glass cylinder, the entire subterranean complex shuddered. The green fluid inside the tank turned a blinding, aggressive crimson.
