Chapter 4 - THE AWAKENING OF THE CODE

The red light bathed the amphitheater in a hellish glow. The giant mechanical heart suspended in the fluid began to beat at a deafening, erratic tempo.

A synthesized voice echoed through the massive chamber, sounding from every direction at once.

Director Thorne smiled triumphantly, stepping closer to the console. "Look closely, children. This is the dawn of a new era. With your father's biometric signature encoded in that pendant, I can finally unlock the planetary defense grid and bend every surviving human network to my absolute will."

Maya thrashed against her magnetic cuffs, screaming at Thorne, "You're insane! The grid will overload! It'll incinerate half the continent!"

"Progress requires sacrifice, little hacker," Thorne replied dismissively, raising his hand to press the final authorization sequence on the glowing holographic interface.

But something unexpected happened.

As the pendant interfaced with the Nexus Prime, the silver metal didn't just transmit data—it began to burn with an blinding, incandescent white light. A sharp, high-pitched frequency pierced the air, causing the armed guards to drop their weapons and clutch their ears in agony.

Leo gasped as a searing pain shot up his right arm. The veins beneath his skin lit up with the exact same golden-white circuit pattern etched into the pendant. He wasn't just holding a key; he was part of the lock.

Biometric mismatch bypassed, the system chimed, but its voice was changing—deepening, shifting into a familiar, long-lost baritone that made Leo’s breath hitch.
