Chapter 7 - THE TWIST OF THE STORM

Leo looked at Thorne, then down at his own glowing hands, and finally out at the churning, purple horizon where the terrifying storm was already beginning to reform. The exact same storm that took his parents. The exact same wind that made him an orphan.

He didn't run. He didn't scream.

Instead, a profound, chilling calm washed over him. He realized the truth his father had tried to tell him all those years ago: the storm wasn't just a weapon of destruction. It was an energy source. A living, breathing network of raw atmospheric data waiting for someone with the courage to steer it.

"You didn't create the storm, Thorne," Leo whispered, stepping forward into the howling wind. "You just opened a door you were too small to close."

The massive holographic screen flashed a brilliant, blinding green. Across the city, every digital billboard, every surviving television, and every emergency radio suddenly flickered to life. The hidden truth of the Apex Directorate—their corporate conspiracies, their engineered disasters, and their plans for global subjugation—flashed across the screens for millions of shell-shocked survivors to see.

Simultaneously, the weapon systems aimed at the city powered down, their red lights turning a peaceful, steady blue.

Driven mad by the loss of his empire, Thorne shrieked in fury and pulled the trigger.

A blinding flash of plasma sliced through the air—but it never hit Leo.

Before the beam could reach him, a massive bolt of lightning roared down from the sky above, striking the metal platform directly between them. The sheer kinetic and electrical force of the lightning strike swept Thorne off his feet, launching him over the edge of the skyscraper into the dark, roaring abyss below.
