CHAPTER 1 – The Beast No One Dared Touch

Rain hammered the empty alleyways as thunder rolled across the city.

Every night, people locked their doors before sunset.

Not because of thieves.

Not because of gangs.

But because of one dog.

A massive black Pit Bull with a steel chain hanging from his neck wandered the streets alone. His scarred face, torn ears, and cold amber eyes terrified everyone who crossed his path.

Parents pulled their children away.

Shop owners threw rocks.

Police officers chased him with sirens screaming.

"He attacked someone!"

"That monster belongs in a cage!"

Rumors spread faster than truth.

Some claimed he had escaped from an illegal fighting ring.

Others whispered he'd already killed three men.

Nobody knew his real name anymore.

They simply called him...

The Devil Dog.

One stormy evening, the dog stopped in front of a small bakery.

Inside, seven-year-old Emily waited for her mother, who had never arrived.

The frightened girl stepped outside into the rain, clutching her tiny backpack.

She didn't notice the black SUV slowly turning into the alley.

Neither did anyone else.

Except...

The dog.

His ears lifted.

His muscles tightened.

His eyes locked onto the vehicle.

The back door suddenly opened.

A masked man jumped out.

Emily screamed as powerful hands grabbed her shoulder.

The dog exploded into motion.

Within seconds, the entire alley echoed with furious barking.

The attacker released the little girl and reached for something inside his jacket.

People watching from nearby shops gasped.

"Oh no..."

"That dog is going to kill him!"

Instead...

The Pit Bull ignored every chance to attack.

He stood directly between Emily and the masked man, refusing to move.

The criminal backed away.

For the first time...

Fear appeared on his face.

Then he fled.

The SUV disappeared into the rain.

Emily burst into tears and wrapped her tiny arms around the giant dog's neck.

The terrifying beast...

Didn't growl.

Didn't bark.

He simply stood still while the little girl cried against his chest.

Everyone watching froze.

How could the city's most feared dog be so gentle?

But what nobody noticed...

Was the small silver bracelet that had fallen from the attacker's wrist.

The dog's eyes never left it.

May you like

As if...

He recognized it.
