News spread across the city overnight.
"The Killer Dog Saved A Child."
Most people refused to believe it.
"It must be fake."
"That animal can't be trusted."
Even after security cameras confirmed the rescue, animal control announced they would capture the Pit Bull "for public safety."
Emily cried.
"You can't take him!"
"No one knows him like I do!"
Her words changed nothing.
The next morning, officers surrounded the abandoned warehouse where the dog slept.
They expected violence.

The dog quietly walked out.
No barking.
No resistance.

He knew this day had finally come.
As an officer slipped a capture pole around his neck, something unexpected happened.
The old chain around the dog's collar snapped and hit the ground with a loud metallic clang.

Everyone in the room fell silent.
The footage showed an underground warehouse.
Dozens of chained dogs.
Illegal fights.
Masked gamblers.

Several respected businessmen.
One face made the detective's blood run cold.
It was the city's beloved mayor.
Then another recording appeared.
The Pit Bull—years younger—wasn't attacking people.
He was protecting a frightened little girl hidden inside a cage.

But that was impossible.
Emily had never met the dog before.

She collapsed to her knees.
