CHAPTER 6 – The Truth That Changed Everything

News of the Whitmore scandal spread across the country overnight.

Television stations camped outside the mansion.

Former employees began coming forward with stories of intimidation, fraud, and corruption.

The once-powerful Whitmore name collapsed in less than forty-eight hours.

Inside the mansion...

Evelyn stood alone in Richard's old office.

She looked at the luxurious furniture one last time before quietly removing the foundation papers from the desk.

Daniel entered.

"You won."

Evelyn smiled sadly.

"No..."

"Your father wanted justice, not revenge."

The next morning, reporters gathered outside expecting another shocking announcement.

Instead...

Evelyn stepped onto the front steps wearing the same simple dress she had worn while cleaning the mansion.

Microphones surrounded her.

"Mrs. Brooks, are you the richest woman in America now?"

She shook her head.

"I've spent my whole life watching wealth destroy families."

"I won't let it destroy another."

Then she made an announcement that stunned the entire nation.

Every mansion...

Every luxury car...

Every private yacht...

Every piece of the Whitmore fortune under the foundation's control...

Would be sold.

The billions would fund hospitals, orphanages, scholarships, and homes for elderly people who had been forgotten by society.

Reporters stood speechless.

Victoria screamed from the police car as it drove away.

"You're throwing away our inheritance!"

Evelyn looked at her through the window one final time.

"No."

"I'm giving it to the people who earned compassion... not entitlement."

As the convoy disappeared down the road, Daniel quietly handed his mother one last unopened envelope that had been hidden inside the iron chest.

On the front, Richard had written just six chilling words:

"Don't trust the man beside you."

Daniel slowly turned around...

May you like

Because someone had been standing behind them the entire time.

Smiling.
