CHAPTER 4 — The Secret Hidden in the Will

The ballroom doors suddenly burst open.
A gray-haired attorney rushed inside carrying a thick leather briefcase.
He looked terrified.
"Mr. Harrington..."
"I came as soon as I received your call."
Richard nodded once.
"Open it."
The attorney placed an aged document onto the stage.
Its seal had never been broken.
Several guests recognized it instantly.
The Harrington Family Emergency Will.
A document no one had seen in twenty years.
Evelyn's confidence finally cracked.
"You can't open that!"
Richard ignored her.
The attorney carefully unfolded the yellowed pages.
"I am prepared to read the final instructions of Jonathan Harrington..."
The founder of the Harrington dynasty.
The room became so quiet that cameras could be heard clicking.
The attorney cleared his throat.
"If my granddaughter is ever found alive..."
Every eye turned toward Emily.
"...she shall immediately inherit controlling ownership of Harrington Global Holdings..."
Gasps erupted.
The attorney continued.
"...including all voting shares, family trusts, private estates, and executive authority."
Nathan nearly dropped his champagne.
Victoria's knees almost gave out.
Reporters began calling their newsrooms before the reading had even finished.
Emily stared in disbelief.
"This can't be real..."
But then came the sentence that changed everything.
"However..."
The attorney paused.
"There is one final condition."
Richard frowned.
Even he hadn't remembered this part.
The attorney looked directly at Emily.
"The inheritance belongs to her..."
"...only if she can prove she is truly the missing granddaughter before sunrise tomorrow."
The ballroom erupted into chaos.
Evelyn slowly smiled again.
Because she knew one terrifying secret.
The only piece of evidence capable of proving Emily's identity...
