Chapter 19 - THE EPITAPH OF AN EMPIREThe annual shareholders' meeting of Walker Logistics was held in the grand ballroom of the downtown convention center—a sweeping, sunlit space overlooking the harbor where dozens of container ships sailed under clear blue skies.

At the center of the head table sat Evelyn Walker, flanked by the senior partners of Vance & Sterling.
I stood at the podium, adjusting the microphone as the applause from hundreds of shareholders, directors, and international partners slowly died down.
"Over the past year," I began, my voice echoing clearly across the vast hall, "Walker Logistics has undergone a complete structural transformation. We have eliminated offshore redundancies, purged compromised assets, and restored absolute transparency to our global supply chains."
A murmur of approval rippled through the audience.
"An empire is not measured by the size of its vault," I continued, looking out over the sea of faces, "nor by the names carved into its family crest. It is measured by the integrity of its foundation, the honesty of its ledgers, and the willingness of its leaders to protect what matters most."
I paused, letting my gaze drift toward Evelyn, who smiled proudly from her seat at the center of the table.
"Today, I am proud to announce that Walker Logistics has recorded its highest quarterly revenue in history—completely debt-free, entirely self-sustained, and operating with a zero-tolerance policy for deception."

The entire ballroom erupted into a standing ovation.
Flashbulbs popped across the front rows, but this time, the cameras weren't capturing a scandal. They were capturing a resurrection.
