Chapter 8 - A NEW HOME AT THE CLUBSpring had fully blossomed across the city, painting the sprawling grounds of the Iron Syndicate’s clubhouse in vibrant shades of green and gold.

In the fenced-in courtyard behind the main garage, a brand-new, state-of-the-art wooden playground stood proudly under the afternoon sun. Laughter echoed across the yard—bright, happy, uninhibited laughter that had never belonged in a place like this before.
Mia was running across the fresh green grass, chasing a bouncing red rubber ball.
Bounding right alongside her, running with a slight, healed limp in his back leg, was Buster—now a healthy, energetic puppy with a shiny coat and a wagging tail that never seemed to stop.
And lounging regally on the wide wooden deck overlooking the yard was Goliath.
The massive, heavily scarred pitbull looked out over the scene with his characteristic calm expression, his big blocky head resting between his front paws. But if you looked closely into his deep amber eyes, you could see something else entirely: the fierce, unwavering pride of a protector who had stood his ground when the world looked away.
Big Mike leaned against the porch railing, taking a slow sip from a mug of black coffee, watching the little girl play.
Jax walked up beside him, handing him a clipboard with official county documents. “Well, Mike. The permanent guardianship papers cleared the federal judge’s desk this morning. Legally and officially, the Iron Syndicate is now Mia’s registered family.”

Mike looked down at the papers, a rare, genuine smile breaking across his weathered, bearded face. He signed his name at the bottom with a steady hand.
“Good,” Mike said softly. “Because her birthday party is next week. And she’s turning eight. We got a lot of spoiling to do.”
