Chapter 10 - THE LEGEND OF GOLIATHYears passed, but the legend of that stormy night in the industrial park never faded among the brotherhood of the Iron Syndicate.

Long after Richard Vance had faded into the forgotten whispers of maximum-security prison statistics, and long after Mia had grown into a bright, confident honor-roll student attending high school with dreams of studying veterinary medicine, one thing remained constant.

At the center of the clubhouse yard, the old, battle-scarred pitbull still kept his eternal watch.

Goliath’s muzzle had turned completely white with age, and his joints moved a little slower in the winter cold, but his spirit remained as fierce and protective as ever. Whenever new visitors walked into the garage, wondering about the massive dog sitting quietly by the door, the younger club members would always smile and shake their heads.

“Don’t let the scars fool you,” they would say. “That’s Goliath. The dog who didn’t bark, didn’t grow... and changed the world with a single step.”

And whenever Mia walked home from school, dropping her backpack by the front porch and rushing over to bury her face in Goliath’s thick, warm neck, the old dog would let out a deep, contented sigh—closing his amber eyes, knowing that his watch was fulfilled, and that the little girl in the torn pajamas was finally, forever safe.
