Chapter 9 - The Garden of New BeginningsBack at the Sterling estate, the autumn air was crisp, scented with damp earth, pine needles, and the sweet perfume of blooming white roses.

Viv knelt in the rich soil of the estate’s expansive greenhouse, her hands dusted with dark dirt as she gently tamped down the earth around a newly planted sunflower seedling.
Beside her, Sophia was laughing hysterically as a golden retriever puppy named Barnaby licked her cheek, playfully tugging on the hem of her yellow dress.
"Mommy, look! Barnaby loves my garden!" Sophia squealed, holding up a small plastic trowel covered in mud.
Viv laughed, brushing a stray lock of dark hair from her forehead with the back of her wrist. "I think Barnaby just loves the mud, sweetie. Make sure you don't plant him next to the sunflowers."
Footsteps crunched softly on the gravel path behind them. Viv didn't even need to turn around to know who it was.
Victor stood at the entrance of the greenhouse, holding a thick, leather-bound portfolio under his arm. He looked at Viv with a softness in his eyes that only his younger sister ever got to see.
"The federal liquidators have finalized the asset seizure," Victor said quietly, walking over and handing her a single crisp document. "Dominic’s old company has been completely dissolved. Its remaining patents and logistics infrastructure have been rolled over into a new, independent philanthropic trust."
Viv took the paper, her eyes scanning the official letterhead. A quiet sense of peace washed over her chest—a weight she hadn't realized she was carrying finally lifting away entirely.
"Whose name is on the trust?" Viv asked softly.
"Yours," Victor replied simply. "And Sophia's. You built the foundation of that company with your own family's capital long before Dominic ever signed his name to it. It’s time it actually helped people who deserve it."
Viv looked down at the document, then out toward the vast, beautiful cliffs where the ocean met the bright blue sky. She felt no anger. No bitterness. Just the profound, steady heartbeat of a woman who had walked through the fire and emerged unbreakable.

"Thank you, Victor," she whispered.
"Always," Victor said, squeezing her shoulder gently before walking back out into the sunlight.
