Chapter 14 - THE MOLE IN THE CORRIDORS

Victor Thorne’s mouth twitched, but he forced a cold, patronizing smile. "Buying real estate is a child's game, Miss Vance. Tomorrow morning, when the European markets open, Thorne Capital will execute a hostile takeover of your Mediterranean shipping fleets. Your internal financial team has been leaking your trade positions to us for weeks."
Chloe sneered from behind Thorne, her confidence returning. "That's right, Clarissa! You thought you were so smart exposed Julian, but you didn't even notice your own C-suite was selling you out! Marcus Reid has been sending us your private ledger!"
I didn't show a single flicker of panic. Instead, I pulled a small black remote control from my purse and pressed a button.
On the massive LED screen hanging over the rooftop pool—which was supposed to display Thorne Capital's promotional video—a video feed flickered to life.
It showed Marcus Reid, the former Apex board member whom Vance International had kept under surveillance, sitting in an FBI interrogation room in New York. Beside him was a team of federal prosecutors.
"What is this?" Thorne demanded, his voice finally losing its calm edge.
On the screen, Marcus Reid was speaking directly into a microphone: "I was instructed by Victor Thorne to feed false financial data to Thorne Capital. Every trade position Thorne thinks he has on Vance Logistics was intentionally fabricated by Clarissa Vance six weeks ago."

The rooftop erupted into total chaos. High-net-worth investors looked at Thorne in sheer horror.
"You see, Victor," I said, stepping right up to his face, looking into his cold eyes. "I knew Marcus was a traitor the week after Julian was arrested. I let him stay in his position so I could feed you false intelligence. Every short option you bought against Vance International was a ghost position."
