Chapter 20 - THE UNBREAKABLE QUEEN

Six months after taking total command of Vance International, I returned to Shaker Heights, Ohio, for one final personal task.
The grand mansion that Julian Cross had once bragged about was officially repossessed by Vance Real Estate. But instead of selling the property to another wealthy executive, I ordered our construction crews to completely demolish the structure.
I stood on the manicured lawn, wearing an elegant dark wool coat, as two massive iron wrecking balls tore through the high marble walls and grand staircase where Julian had once stood mocking me.
Mrs. Martha stood beside me, holding a warm thermos of tea.
"Does it hurt to see it fall, Miss Clarissa?" Martha asked gently.
"Not at all, Martha," I smiled, watching the master bedroom balcony collapse into a cloud of white dust. "We are building something real here."
On the ground where Julian’s mansion once stood, Vance International broke ground on the Clarissa Vance Foundation for Economic Independence—a $500 million state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing legal, financial, and educational resources for women escaping abusive and financially coercive marriages.
As the heavy machinery worked into the late afternoon, Richard Sterling walked over, handing me a leather binder.
"The final legal filings are complete, Chairwoman," Richard reported. "Julian Cross's final appeal was officially denied this morning. He will serve his full thirty-two-year sentence without the possibility of parole. Chloe Miller’s fraud conviction was upheld, and she has been transferred to a state correctional facility."
I closed the binder, handing it back to Richard.
"And Thorne?" I asked.
"He was sentenced in Paris yesterday," Richard replied. "Twenty-five years in European federal custody. His personal fortune has been completely exhausted paying court fines and restitution."
I nodded, turning my back on the dust and debris of the past.
The sun began to set over Shaker Heights, casting a long, golden light across the landscape. But this time, there were no tears, no shadows, and no hidden identities.
I stepped into the back seat of my executive Maybach, where my laptop was open to global trade reports generating billions in revenue for our foundation and enterprise.
Julian Cross had thought he was discarding a broken wife in a worn-out dress. He never realized that by pushing me out into the cold, he had simply awakened the most ruthless, untouchable sovereign the business world had ever seen.

The story of my silence was over.
My empire had only just begun.
