Chapter 19 - THE CROWN PASSED

One month later.

The grand auditorium of the Chicago Cultural Center was packed with over two thousand journalists, business leaders, and international dignitaries for Vance International’s annual shareholder summit.

Arthur Vance stood at the podium under the blinding flash of hundreds of cameras.

"For forty years," Arthur announced, his voice echoing powerfully through the hall, "I have led Vance International through global crises, market crashes, and industrial revolutions. But a true leader knows when it is time to hand the reigns to a greater mind."

Arthur turned toward the side of the stage.

"Effective immediately, I am officially retiring as Chairman of Vance International. I am handing 100% of my voting shares and full executive control to my daughter, Clarissa Vance."

The auditorium erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation.

I stepped onto the stage, wearing a tailored midnight-blue power suit—a bold, brilliant evolution of the faded dress I had worn on the night Julian abandoned me.

I stood at the podium, looking out at the sea of powerful men and women who were now standing to honor my leadership.

"Three years ago," I began, my voice clear and unwavering, "someone told me that I would only humiliate those around me if I showed my face in high society. They believed that value was defined by luxury labels, arrogance, and cruelty."

I paused, looking directly into the primary news camera broadcasting live across the globe—knowing that inside their respective federal prison cells, Julian Cross and Victor Thorne were watching on small black-and-white television screens.

"I stand here today to prove that true power is not given by a man, nor can it be stolen by a liar. True power is built in silence, guarded by intellect, and unleashed with absolute precision."
