Damen walked into the office one freezing December morning, dropping a thick financial report onto the desk with a heavy thud.
“The transition of the Queens shipping docks is complete,” Damen announced, shaking snow off his coat. “The municipal board approved the construction permits an hour ago.”
Antonio didn’t look up from his computer, though a satisfied smirk played on his lips. “And the old guard?”
“A few grumbled about losing the old ways,” Damen chuckled. “I reminded them that you put Franco in the ground and forced the Costa family to surrender without firing a single shot this month. Nobody’s complaining anymore.”
“Good. Keep an eye on the logistics division. I want everything running smoothly before the holidays.”
