Chapter 10 - A Legacy RestoredAlex didn't stop walking. He stepped into the laboratory, his gun leveled directly at Vivienne's chest.

"You really don't get it, do you, Vivienne?" Alex said, his voice deadly quiet. "You spent your whole life chasing power, thinking money and control were the only things that mattered. You thought my father was weak because he cared about family."

"He was weak!" Vivienne shrieked, her thumb hovering over the red detonator button. "He gave up absolute control of the global markets for a woman and a child!"

"He was the strongest man I ever knew," Alex said.

Behind Vivienne, the server screens suddenly flared bright red. A loud automated voice echoed through the lab: GENETIC SYSTEM OVERLOAD. CRITICAL PURGE INITIATED.

Vivienne whirled around in horror. "What?! What did you do?!"

"My sons didn't just inherit the key, Vivienne," Alex said softly. "When Elena and I brought them into Sterling Tower six months ago, we uploaded a defensive counter-virus into their genetic cloud profiles. The moment your servers tried to read the secondary key... it deployed a self-destruct payload directly into your global financial network."

"No... NO!" Vivienne screamed, frantically pounding on the keyboard as trillions of dollars in dark-web syndicate assets vanished from her screens, redistributed into public charitable foundations across the globe.

In her distraction, Marcus leaped forward, kicking the detonator out of her hand and tackling her to the floor, pinning her arms behind her back.

The lab fell quiet, save for the dying hum of the fried servers.

Alex walked over to the desk, picked up the syringes containing the amber fluid, and smashed them against the concrete floor.

"It's over," Alex said, looking down at Vivienne. "The Syndicate is finished. Your empire is gone."

Three weeks later, the sun was shining brightly over Central Park.

The grass was green, filled with families strolling, children riding bicycles, and dogs chasing frisbees.

On a small hill overlooking the lake, Alex sat on a plaid blanket, his arm wrapped tightly around Elena. A few yards away, Lucas and Noah were laughing hysterically, chasing a small golden retriever puppy Alex had bought them for their seventh birthday.

"They're fast," Elena smiled, resting her head gently on Alex's shoulder. "Just like you were when you were little."

Alex looked down at her, kissing her hair softly. "I used to think my life ended on that highway in Greenwich seven years ago. I thought I was empty. A shell of a man who had nothing left to give."

He looked at Lucas and Noah, who were currently wrestling the puppy into the grass, their bright blue eyes shining with unadulterated joy and pure, endless life.

"Turns out," Alex murmured, a tear of gratitude welling in his eye, "my life was just waiting for two little boys to run into my office and call me Daddy."

Lucas stopped, looking back at his parents, and waved frantically. "Daddy! Come on! Max found a stick!"

Alex smiled, standing up and reaching his hand down to pull Elena to her feet.

"Coming, boys," Alex called out, his voice strong, full, and finally home. "Daddy's right here."
