Chapter 3 - The Bloodline KeyThe silence in the vault was suffocating. Alex stared at the blank monitor, his blood boiling with a rage he had never experienced in his life.

"Mama..." Noah began to cry quietly. "Is Mama going to die?"

"No," Alex said instantly, turning to face his sons. He knelt down, pulling both boys into a tight, fierce hug. "I promise you on my life. Your mother is coming home."

Alex stood up and walked to his desk. He opened a locked drawer and pulled out an encrypted mobile terminal. He tapped a sequence, dialing a number he hadn't used in half a decade—Marcus Vance, Elena’s estranged older brother and a former military intelligence contractor who had vanished from public record five years ago.

"Sterling," Marcus’s rough voice answered on the first ring. "I saw the news about your lobby. Is it true?"

"They're here, Marcus. Lucas and Noah. They're safe with me," Alex said rapidly. "Julian has Elena at Pier 42. He wants the boys' DNA to unlock the Genesis Strand."

A harsh silence hung on the line before Marcus growled, "Julian took my sister because he thinks he holds all the cards. He doesn't know I've been tracking his mercenary group, Ares Tactical, for eighteen months. But Alex... he's right about the boys. Their DNA isn't just a key. It's an activation trigger. If Julian draws their blood and runs it through the Vance sequence analyzer, he doesn't just get access—he executes a permanent wipe of the security locks."

"I don't care about the software, Marcus! I care about Elena and my sons!" Alex snapped.

"Listen to me," Marcus said coldly. "Julian isn't planning to let any of you leave Pier 42 alive. Even if you give him the boys, he will execute Elena, you, and the kids to clear the bloodline once and for all. We need a decoy."

Lucas stepped forward, pulling his small backpack off his shoulders. "Daddy... Mama gave me this before she disappeared. She said if I ever saw you, I had to give you the green flash drive inside."

Alex looked at Lucas, startled. He unzipped the small front pocket and extracted a metallic green USB drive sealed in a shockproof casing.

"Marcus," Alex said, looking at the drive. "I have Elena's backup drive."

"Plug it into your vault terminal immediately," Marcus instructed. "Let's see what my sister left us."

Alex slotted the drive into his desktop. The computer screen lit up with complex genetic sequencing charts, military schematics, and an automated protocol titled: PROJECT CIDER - SYNTHETIC BLOODLINE BIOMARKER.

Alex’s eyes widened as he read the code. "She foresaw this. Elena created a synthetic DNA sequence that mimics the boys' genetic structure... but acts as a Trojan horse. If loaded into Julian's analyzer, it doesn't give him control—it fries his entire server infrastructure and sends a locational ping to the global counter-terrorism network."

"That's my sister," Marcus grunted over the phone. "We have our weapon. But we need to get to Pier 42 without Julian's snipers taking you down the moment you step foot on the dock."

"I have my personal armored transport in the subterranean garage," Alex said, his eyes hardening. "And I built this company's child-safety network. It's time I used it to tear Julian's world down."
