Chapter 7 - The Shadows ReturnSix months later, life had settled into an idyllic rhythm. The news of Alexander Sterling's secret twin sons had swept across the global business press like a wildfire. Headlines dubbed them "The Sterling Miracles," and Alex had completely restructured his life, stepping down as CEO to become Chairman so he could spend every afternoon taking Lucas and Noah to soccer practice and science fairs.

Elena had re-established her bio-tech research laboratory under the Sterling Foundation, using her expertise to develop advanced pediatric safety devices. They were happy. They were whole.
Or so they believed.
On a rainy Thursday evening, while Alex was tucking Noah into bed, his private cell phone chimed with an encrypted alert. It was a number he didn't recognize, originating from an offshore satellite proxy in Geneva.
Alex stepped into the hallway, answering quietly. "Sterling."
"Did you really think your uncle was the mastermind, Alexander?" a smooth, female voice with a heavy European accent purred through the speaker.
Alex’s posture immediately stiffened. "Who is this?"
"Julian was merely a blunt tool—a greedy, desperate fool who thought he was playing chess when he was barely playing checkers," the woman chuckled coldly. "He owed eighty million dollars to the Syndicate of the Black Rose. Where do you think he got the money to hire those tactical mercenaries at Pier 42?"
Alex felt a cold chill run down his spine. "What do you want?"
"Your father didn't just hide shares in Zurich, Alex," she whispered. "He took something from us. Something that belongs to the Syndicate. And now that your sweet little boys have reached their seventh birthday... the secondary genetic key inside them has activated."
Alex sprinted down the hallway toward the boys' playroom, his heart hammering against his ribs. "If you threaten my family—"
"Check your living room security feed, Mr. Sterling," she interrupted softly. "We're already inside."
Alex threw open the door to the central living room.
Elena was standing by the large glass window, staring frozen at a small red laser dot hovering directly over her heart. Standing on the private elevator landing were three men in tailored suits, led by an elegant woman in a white trench coat with sharp silver hair.

In her hands was a high-tech biometric scanner.
"Good evening, Alexander," the silver-haired woman smiled coldly. "I am Lady Vivienne Vance. Your late father-in-law's sister... and the true owner of the Sterling Empire."
