Chapter 4 - The Poisoned PawnThe atmospheric pressure inside the prison plummeted over the next forty-eight hours. The status quo was shattered. Realizing that brute force was useless against Kate, Warden Thomas executed a sinister contingency plan.

He authorized the release of "The Viper"—an inmate serving three life sentences in maximum security isolation, notorious for using quiet, lethal toxins rather than fists.
That evening in the cafeteria, the tension was palpable. Kate sat alone at a corner table. Every inmate gave her a twenty-foot wide berth.
A frail, elderly inmate named Elena, who worked in the kitchen staff, nervously approached Kate’s table with a tray containing a hot bowl of soup and fresh bread.
"Eat, child," Elena stammered, her hands shaking violently. "You... you need your strength."
Kate looked at the bowl, then at Elena’s trembling fingers. She noticed the slight discoloration under the old woman’s fingernails—a faint, bitter almond scent rising from the steam of the broth.
Cyanide.
Instead of pushing the tray away, Kate grabbed Elena’s wrist. The old woman gasped, dropping to her knees, tears overflowing down her wrinkled cheeks.
"I had to!" Elena sobbed silently. "They hold my granddaughter on the outside! If I didn't put it in your soup, they promised to kill her!"
Kate’s eyes burned with a deadly, righteous rage. She didn't blame the tool; she blamed the master holding the leash.
Slowly releasing Elena, Kate stood up, picking up the poisoned bowl. She walked across the crowded cafeteria toward the high table where the senior guards were dining alongside "The Viper," who was watching with a subtle, triumphant smirk.
Kate stopped in front of The Viper, a woman with sunken eyes and tattooed skin.
"You dropped something," Kate said flatly.
Before the guards could draw their tasers, Kate slammed the heavy bowl into The Viper’s face, forcing the scalding, poisoned liquid down her throat while pinning her to the table with a terrifying display of raw power.
Guards screamed, drawing their weapons, pulling back their slides.
"DROP THE WEAPON!"
Kate didn't flinch. She grabbed the head guard by his collar, pulled his radio off his shoulder, and spoke directly into the master frequency connected to the Warden’s desk.

"Thomas," Kate’s voice roared through the entire administration building. "Your assassins are failing. Send the Governor next."
Chapter 4 Hook: The entire prison broke into chaotic alarms as Kate threw the guard into the security door, locking herself inside the cafeteria with fifty terrified inmates who now looked at her like a dark deity.
