Chapter 7 - The Final VerdictThe gate at the edge of the backyard clicked open.

Two men in dark suits stepped onto the patio, holding leather briefcases. They weren't men in white coats holding a psychiatric hold. They were representatives of the Vance Family Trust and Senior Legal Counsel.
Mr. Henderson, our family’s aging, sharp-eyed attorney who had known us since we were infants, walked straight past a weeping, paralyzed Chloe and stopped directly in front of my father and me.
"Good evening, Robert," Mr. Henderson said evenly, nodding to my father. Then he turned his sharp eyes down to Chloe, who was huddled on the ground like a broken doll. "And good evening, Chloe. I received your father's digital transmission approximately four minutes ago."
Chloe scrambled backward, her hands scraping against the stone. "Mr. Henderson... wait... listen to me! Maya is lying! She's crazy! She trapped herself in that room, she—"
"Chloe, stop talking," Mr. Henderson’s voice cut through the air like a scalpel. "The trust agreement drafted by your grandfather in 2012 contained a very specific moral and legal clause regarding the primary beneficiary."
He pulled a heavy, cream-colored document from his briefcase and unfolded the top page.
"Clause 14, Section B," Mr. Henderson read aloud, his voice echoing in the empty backyard. "In the event that the primary executor of the estate attempts to utilize fraudulent legal mechanisms, perjury, or institutional confinement against their co-heir to usurp full ownership, said executor shall be immediately and permanently disinherited, forfeiting all rights to the Vance estate, assets, and properties."
Mr. Henderson looked up, fixing his gaze squarely on Chloe.
"By filing a false emergency psychiatric petition for the explicit purpose of financial usurpation—a fact clearly documented in your own recorded phone call—you have officially triggered Clause 14," the attorney stated coldly. "You are stripped of all executorship, all financial distributions, and all claims to the trust."
"No! No, you can't do that! Dad, tell him! Dad, make him stop!" Chloe shrieked, lunging forward to grab the hem of our father’s trousers. "I’m your daughter! I’m your favorite! You can't let her take everything from me!"
Our father looked down at her. The last remaining fragment of his paternal blindness finally snapped, replaced by the crushing realization of what kind of monster he had enabled for over a decade.
He slowly pulled his leg away from her grip.

"I have two daughters, Chloe," our father said, his voice quiet, heavy, and absolute. "For twelve years, I only acted like I had one. That ends tonight."
Mr. Henderson turned his attention to me, offering a respectful, solemn nod. "As for you, Maya. According to the amended terms of the trust, with Chloe disqualified, sole custodianship and full execution of the Vance estate transfer immediately to you upon your eighteenth birthday. The papers are ready for your signature whenever you wish."
