Chapter 17 - The Ambush in Geneva

Recognizing that the federal authorities were closing in, Arthur executed his emergency exit plan that very night.

Using stolen administrative codes, he initiated an illegal wire transfer of $800 million from Sterling Meridian’s Swiss accounts into an untraceable private bank in Geneva, preparing to board a private jet to a non-extradition country.

Claire, flying aboard her private jet alongside Viktor Vance and a squad of elite Swiss federal operatives, landed in Geneva two hours before Arthur’s plane.

At 3:00 AM, in the private executive lounge of Bank Lumière overlooking Lake Geneva, Arthur sat across from a Swiss banker, waiting for the final confirmation lights to turn green.

"The transaction is ninety-nine percent complete, Mr. Pendelton," the banker stated, typing on his terminal. "Just awaiting final authentication."

Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the bank lounge swung open.

Claire walked in, dressed in a long white trench coat, her steps echoing calmly against the polished marble floor. Behind her stood two armed Swiss federal officers and the Chairman of Bank Lumière.

Arthur jumped out of his chair, his eyes wide with frantic disbelief. "Claire?! How... how did you get past security?!"

Claire stopped five feet away, looking at him with absolute calm.

"Your authentication code failed, Arthur," Claire said smoothly.

The Swiss banker looked up from his screen. "Mr. Pendelton, the funds have been frozen by order of the Swiss Federal Prosecutor's office. You no longer have signing authority."

"No... NO!" Arthur shrieked, slamming his fist onto the glass table. "THAT MONEY IS MINE! I BUILT THAT COMPANY FROM THE SHADOWS FOR THIRTY YEARS!"
