Chapter 5 - The Corporate Execution

By 9:00 AM, Wall Street was in absolute chaos.

The front-page headline of the Financial Times and digital alerts across every major news network blared the unthinkable:

STERLING EMPIRE IN CRISIS: WHISTLEBLOWER ALLEGES FRAUD AT THE TOP OF NEW YORK’S ELITE DYNASTY.

Inside the sleek, glass-walled boardroom of Sterling Enterprises on Madison Avenue, the atmosphere was suffocating. Board members sat in stunned silence, their tablets flashing red as Sterling stock plunged by 34% within the first hour of trading.

Julian Sterling sat at the head of the mahogany table, looking like a ghost. His phone hadn't stopped vibrating for two hours.

"Julian! What is the meaning of this?!" shouted Thomas Vance, the senior board director, slamming his fist onto the table. "Genetic mismatch? A fraudulent heir? The SEC is already launching an inquiry, and the institutional investors are threatening an immediate liquidation of assets!"

"It’s a smear campaign," Julian stammered, his voice lacking any conviction. "My ex-wife... she’s unstable. She fabricated documents—"

The heavy oak doors of the boardroom abruptly swung open.

All heads snapped toward the entrance.

Clara Hayes walked in.

She wasn't wearing her old velvet dress or cowering in a corner. She wore a sharp, tailored navy-blue pantsuit, her hair pulled back into a sleek bun. Behind her walked two federal marshals and her newly retained high-profile corporate attorney, Marcus Vance—ironically, the estranged brother of the board director.

"She didn't fabricate anything, Julian," Clara said, her voice echoing smoothly across the pristine boardroom as she strode toward the center table.

Julian jumped to his feet, his face turning purple with rage. "Security! Get this woman out of here! How did she even get past the lobby?!"

"Security won't help you today, Mr. Sterling," Marcus Vance said smoothly, laying a thick manila folder down on the table. "Not when federal subpoenas and original hospital birth ledgers from 1994 have just been filed with the federal court."

Clara stopped right in front of Julian, looking him dead in the eye. "You wanted a war, Julian? You and your mother built an empire on lies, theft, and cruelty. Today, the foundation crumbles."
