Chapter 8 - A New Dawn

Six months later, the sun shone brightly over Central Park, casting a golden glow across the autumn leaves.
Clara Hayes walked hand-in-hand with her daughter, Mia, who was skipping happily along the paved pathway, clutching a giant pink balloon. The bruises on Mia's face were long gone, replaced by bright, joyful laughter that rang out clear and free.
Clara stopped at a bench, opening her tablet to review the morning news.
Sterling Enterprises had officially been dissolved and restructured into a public humanitarian trust, managed in part by a new foundation focusing on single mothers and child advocacy—funded entirely by the recovered assets of the Sterling estate.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a message from Marcus Vance:
“The final settlement paperwork is signed, Clara. You are officially the sole owner of the Manhattan property portfolio. And... the university just approved your full scholarship enrollment for your law degree.”
Clara looked down at Mia, who ran back to grab her hand, beaming from ear to ear.
"Mommy, can we get ice cream now?" Mia asked excitedly.
May you like
Clara smiled, her heart lighter and freer than it had ever been in her entire life. The nightmares of the past were gone, buried beneath the wreckage of a shattered facade.
"Anything you want, baby," Clara said, lifting Mia into her arms and walking forward into a future they had fought tooth and nail to claim.
