Chapter 5 - The Eviction NoticeđŸ”„ CLICKBAIT TITLE: HE TOLD ME TO GET USED TO BEING REPLACED... SO I SERVED HIM AN EVICTION NOTICE BEFORE THE APPETIZERS ARRIVED!

"Enjoying the dinner, Claire?" I asked, turning my attention squarely to the mistress.

Claire glared at me, her chest heaving, her manicured fingers digging into the linen tablecloth. "You think you're so powerful just because of some paper trick? Daniel still loves me. We have a future together. You're just a bitter, dumped wife who can't accept that he doesn't want you anymore!"

"Oh, sweetie," I smiled, pulling a second, smaller document from my bag. "You’re entirely right about one thing: I am no longer his wife. In fact, divorce papers were filed and served to his legal team thirty minutes before I walked through those doors."

Daniel’s head jerked up, his eyes bloodshot. "Divorce? You... you filed?"

"Of course I did," I replied smoothly. "Did you really think I was going to hang around and fight for scraps like some pathetic soap opera character? I don’t share, Daniel. And I certainly don't recycle trash."

I walked the rest of the way to the head of the table, stopping right beside Claire’s chair—my chair.

I reached down, picked up Claire’s half-empty wineglass, and casually poured the expensive red wine right over the top of her designer handbag resting on the floor.

Claire shrieked, jumping up as if she’d been electrocuted. "What the hell is wrong with you?! My bag cost five thousand dollars!"

"Consider it a minor depreciation fee," I said calmly, dropping the glass onto the table. Then, I pulled the final document from my purse and laid it flat right in front of Daniel.

"What is this now?" Daniel whispered, his voice completely hollow.

"That," I leaned in close, whispering so only he could hear every syllable, "is the eviction notice for the penthouse. The lease is in my corporate portfolio's name. You and your little girlfriend have until midnight to pack your things. Security is already downstairs."

Daniel stared at the paper, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. All the arrogance, all the condescension, all the cruel superiority he had worn like armor when I walked into the room had completely vanished.

He was naked, broke, homeless, and utterly destroyed.
