Chapter 6 - The Reckoning of the BoardBy 9:00 AM the following morning, the news had shattered every financial network in the country: WHITMORE ENTERPRISE MATRIARCH ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND HISTORIC HOMICIDE! STOCKS PLUMMET 30%!

Inside the boardroom on the 50th floor of the Whitmore Tower, twelve senior board members were in utter panic.
"We need to force Ethan to resign!" one board member shouted. "This scandal will sink the stock!"
"Resign?"
The heavy double doors slammed open. Ethan Whitmore walked in, accompanied by two corporate lawyers and Claire, who was sitting in a wheelchair pushed by a nurse.
"Sit down. All of you," Ethan commanded.
"For ten years, this board turned a blind eye while my mother pushed out executives, altered financial audits, and destroyed innocent lives," Ethan said, tossing a thick black folder onto the conference table. "In that folder are the original financial books from ten years ago signed by David Montgomery—Claire's father."

Claire spoke up, her voice clear. "My father didn't steal two million dollars. Eleanor Whitmore used shell companies to frame him because he refused to sign off on Arthur Whitmore's altered life insurance policies."
"Effective immediately," Ethan announced, "I am liquidating thirty percent of my personal shares into a restitution fund for the Montgomery estate. Furthermore, the board will vote today to fully cooperate with the District Attorney's office in prosecuting Eleanor Whitmore."
