Chapter 3 - The Girl in the Mirror

VIRAL TITLE: "Who are you?" — The Bump Was REAL, But Her Identity Was a LIE! đŸŽđŸ’„

Ethan burst into the bedroom, pulling his gun from his waist holster.

The balcony doors were wide open, letting the freezing rain blow into the room. Maya was sitting at the edge of the bed, her face completely calm, staring at her reflection in the full-length mirror. She didn’t look terrified or helpless anymore. Her posture was erect, her eyes sharp and cold.

“Who were you talking to?” Ethan demanded, his voice trembling between anger and heartbreak.

Maya slowly turned her head. A cruel, slow smile spread across her lips—a smile Ethan had never seen on the gentle maid’s face.

“You always were too smart for your own good, Ethan,” she said, her voice dropping the stuttering maid persona entirely.

“The DNA test
 the medical files
Who are you? Where is the real Maya?!” Ethan yelled over the thunder roaring outside.

The woman stood up, caressing her visibly round stomach. “Oh, the baby is very real, Ethan. It’s kicking right now. And yes, it’s yours. But I am not Maya Lin.”

She pulled off her hair tie, letting her hair fall differently, exposing a faint surgical scar along her jawline.

“My name is Iris,” she whispered. “Maya Lin was my twin sister. The girl you loved, the girl who worked as a maid in your mansion
she died eight months ago. Victoria threw her down the basement stairs when she found out Maya was pregnant with your heir.”

Ethan froze, the room spinning around him. “Maya
 is dead?”

“Victoria covered it up, buried her under the rose garden, and threatened to ruin your life,” Iris said, her eyes flashing with pure vengeance. “So I got plastic surgery. I altered my face to match my dead sister. I infiltrated the house, took Maya’s place, and let Victoria abuse me just to trap her
 and to trap you.”

“Why trap me?” Ethan breathed, horrified. “I loved Maya! I didn’t know!”

Iris took a step closer, pointing a slender finger at his chest. “Because you didn’t protect her! You left her alone in that snake pit while you played billionaire businessman in Europe. You killed her just as much as Victoria did!”

Suddenly, the penthouse lights went completely black.
