Chapter 3 - The Ransom of Silence

The silence lasted only a second before Rebecca’s expression turned from panicked shock to venomous contempt. She stopped playing the innocent bride. Stepping closer to Daniel, she lowered her voice so only he could hear, though her eyes remained burning with malice.
"You think you won?" she sneered, leaning in. "You fool. Look at the timestamp on that recording."
Daniel’s stomach plummeted. He looked down at his watch, then back at Rebecca.
"That video was taken four hours ago," Rebecca whispered, a cruel smile curving her lips. "Your precious little daughter isn't resting at Aunt Sarah's house, Daniel. Daniel grabbed her by the shoulders, forgetting where they were. "Where is she?! What did you do to her?!"
