Chapter 9 - The Final Trap

Back at the precinct, Rebecca sat in the interrogation room, still wearing her stained white wedding dress. She maintained her arrogant posture, assuming she would only face assault charges that her high-priced lawyer could negotiate down.

The door opened. Daniel walked in alone, carrying a thick yellow folder, followed by Detective Jenkins.

"Did you find the body?" Rebecca mocked, leaning back. "You're too late, Daniel. Your daughter is probably—"

Daniel slammed the folder onto the metal table.

"Emily is alive," Daniel said calmly. "And so is the memory of my wife, Evelyn."

Rebecca’s smirk instantly vanished. For the first time, true panic flashed across her eyes.

"We know about the hospital, Veronica," Jenkins said, sliding the medical logs across the table. "We know about the altered IV logs from five years ago. We have the trace chemical signature matching the sedatives found in your apartment."

Rebecca stared at the documents. The color drained completely from her face as she realized her five-year master plan had collapsed into a life sentence without parole.
