CHAPTER 8 – The Secret Hidden Inside the Necklace

They escaped to an abandoned lakeside cabin that Adrian had owned decades earlier.
As the rain poured outside, Nathan finally remembered the silver necklace from the bank deposit box.
The initials E.C.
His mother gasped the moment she saw it.
"You still have it..."
Adrian nodded.
"I kept it all these years."
Nathan turned the pendant over.
Something felt strange.
There was a tiny groove along its edge.
With trembling fingers, he twisted it open.
Inside was an impossibly small memory card.
Everyone stared in silence.
Adrian smiled weakly.
"Richard searched every house I ever owned."
"But he never searched the necklace."
Nathan inserted the memory card into an old laptop.
A single video appeared.
Recorded...
Twenty-eight years earlier.
The screen flickered.
A younger Richard Crawford walked into a private office carrying a briefcase.
He looked directly into the hidden camera.
Then another man entered.
Nathan froze.
It was Senator William Harper—one of the most powerful politicians in America.
The two men opened the briefcase.
Stacks of cash.
Forged documents.
Birth records.
Then Richard said the words that changed everything:
"Once the baby disappears, the Crawford empire belongs to me forever."
Nathan's blood ran cold.
His mother covered her mouth in horror.
Richard hadn't just stolen a child.
He had built his entire billion-dollar empire on kidnapping, blackmail, and political corruption.
But before anyone could process the revelation...
The laptop screen suddenly went black.
A message appeared.
REMOTE ACCESS DETECTED.
ALL FILES DELETING... 12%... 24%... 39%...
Nathan desperately tried to stop it.
Too late.
Outside the cabin...
A helicopter's searchlight pierced the darkness.
And through the rain, dozens of armed men surrounded the property.
Richard Crawford had found them.
This time...
May you like
He wasn't coming to threaten them.
He was coming to finish what he started.
