Chapter 3 - THE FORECLOSURE OF A LIFETIME

😱 FROM RICHES TO RUIN: The Terrifying Document That Stopped the Wedding of the Century! 😱Isabella stepped forward, her diamond-encrusted heels stomping against the stone stage. "Owner?! You? Don't make me laugh! This hacienda belongs to the Garza Group! My family bought this estate three years ago! You’re nothing but a liar trying to face-save!"

Valeria didn't even look at Isabella. To her, the heiress was merely a fly buzzing in an empty room. Instead, she raised her hand slightly.

Her personal assistant, a sharp woman in a tailored gray suit who had just stepped out of the Rolls-Royce, handed Valeria a sleek leather portfolio.

Valeria opened it and pulled out a single sheet of heavy, official document stamped with the seal of the Mexican Federal High Court and the National Financial Commission.

"Carlos," Valeria said, her tone dripping with ice. "Why don't you explain to your daughter and your new... son-in-law... exactly who funds the Garza Group's expansion?"

Carlos Garza looked like he was about to have a heart attack. He couldn't even look his daughter in the eye. "Isabella... stop talking. Please, for the love of God, shut up."

"No, Father! Tell her to leave!" Isabella screamed, her tiara slipping slightly from her hair.

Valeria smiled, handing the document to the wedding coordinator, who was now trembling so violently he could barely hold it. "Read the bold print at the bottom aloud. Let the entire high society of Mexico hear what happens when you build an empire on borrowed sand."

The coordinator swallowed, his voice cracking over the microphone system.

"As of 4:00 PM today... due to the default on the $450 million credit line extended to the Garza Hotel Dynasty, all underlying collateral—including the Garza Corporate Headquarters, the legacy resorts in Cancun, and the entirety of Hacienda San Gabriel—has been legally transferred to the primary creditor: Phoenix Capital Holdings."

A collective murmur erupted among the guests. Phoenix Capital Holdings. It was the most ruthless, aggressive venture capital firm in Latin America, known for buying out failing conglomerates and stripping them to the bone. No one knew who owned it, as it was shielded by layers of Swiss trusts.

Until now.

"And who," Valeria asked, her voice echoing with absolute authority, "is the sole founder, majority shareholder, and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Capital?"

The coordinator looked at the document, then looked up at Valeria with wide, terrified eyes. "V-Valeria... Valeria Montenegro."

Alejandro felt the ground beneath him tilt. Montenegro. That was her mother's maiden name. She had dropped his name, discarded any trace of their past, and rebuilt herself into a ghost that had just swallowed his entire future whole.

"No... no, this is a mistake! This is fraud!" Alejandro shouted, running down the steps of the altar and grabbing Carlos Garza by the shoulders. "Father! Tell me it's a lie! We are marrying today! Our merger with the European investors happens tomorrow! We are supposed to be billionaires!"

Carlos slapped Alejandro’s hands away with disgust. "You idiot! The European investors were Phoenix Capital! They were a front! She trapped us! She bought up our debt from the banks over the last two years while you were busy spending millions on this damn wedding!"

Carlos turned to Valeria, tears forming in his aged eyes. "Valeria... please. We can negotiate. Don't do this to my family. Don't destroy my legacy over this arrogant piece of trash you used to be married to. If it's about him, I will kick him out right now! The wedding is off!"

Hearing her father cancel the wedding to save his skin made Isabella gasp, clutching her chest. "Father! You can't do this to me!"

"Shut up!" Carlos screamed at his daughter. "Your vanity cost us our empire! You insisted on marrying this social climber, spending five million dollars on a wedding while our cash flow was bleeding out!"

Valeria watched the family tear each other apart with total detachment. Five years ago, she had begged Alejandro to listen to her financial advice, to help her save for their future child. He had laughed, called her a brainless cashier, and thrown her into the rain.

Now, the master of finance had spoken. And her word was law.

"Negotiate?" Valeria murmured, looking at Carlos. "The time for negotiation ended when your future son-in-law sent an invitation to my penthouse, mocking my life and promising to seat me in the last row so I wouldn't embarrass his wealthy guests."

She turned her gaze to Alejandro, whose face was completely hollowed out by despair.

"I told you, Alejandro," Valeria whispered. "We were never meant to live in the same world. You just didn't realize which one of us belonged at the top."
