Chapter 3 - The Cards DeclineAt 12:45 PM, Katherine's cell phone rang. The caller ID flashed: Reginald.

She let it ring three times, savoring the sound, before picking up. "Hello, darling."
"Kath, is there something wrong with our joint accounts?" Reginald's voice was tight, layered with barely suppressed panic. "I just tried to pay for a business lunch and my black card was declined. I called the concierge line, and they said my corporate accounts are locked pending an internal review at your branch."
"Oh, really?" Katherine adjusted the volume, leaning back in her leather executive chair. "That’s strange. I know the automated systems sometimes flag unusual activity. Where are you having lunch?"
"At... at the country club," he lied smoothly. Katherine had his phone's location pinged on her second monitor. He was at a boutique jewelry store downtown, likely buying a pacifier for Chloe.
"I wouldn't worry, Reggie. It's probably just a glitch. I'll check on it when I get a moment, but I'm swamped today. One demanding career in a marriage, right?" She fed his own condescending words back to him.
"Katherine, I need this fixed now," he snapped, the facade cracking. "I have a $4 million escrow transfer due by 3:00 PM for a new municipal plot. If that wire doesn't clear, I lose the contract."

"I'll see what I can do," Katherine said cheerfully. "Love you."
She hung up. She didn't lift the freeze. Instead, she expanded it. She locked his personal savings, his checking, and the secret offshore routing numbers she had uncovered the night before. Reginald was now financially paralyzed.
