Chapter 17 - The Snake Turns

"Marcus Sterling? Serena Vance?" the lead FBI agent announced, stepping in front of their table. "You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, conspiracy to commit corporate extortion, and grand theft."
Serena’s champagne glass shattered on the floor. "This is a mistake! I’m an executive! She’s setting us up!"
"Save it for the magistrate," the agent said, pulling her arms behind her back and snapping on the steel handcuffs.
As Serena was being led past the media cameras, hysterically screaming and trying to cover her face, Arthur walked up to me at the stage podium, handing me an updated court order.
"Julian just signed an emergency state's evidence agreement from his jail cell thirty minutes ago," Arthur whispered with a satisfied smile. "After watching Serena call him a 'useless idiot' on the live video stream, he gave the prosecutors every text message, email, and bank transfer record tying Serena and Marcus to the original forgery."
Julian had finally realized that the woman he had ruined his life for had viewed him as nothing more than a disposable tool. In his rage, he laid bare the entire paper trail.
