Chapter 15 - The Final HuntThe rain was lashing against the windshield of the town car as Tessa drove us through the slick, neon-lit downtown streets.

"Vincent, are you sure about this?" Tessa asked, glancing sideways at me as the car sped toward the high-rise district. "If we intercept them outside legal jurisdiction—"

"This isn't about law, Tessa," I interrupted, staring out at the blurred city lights. "This is about closure."

Twenty minutes later, our car pulled up outside the grand entrance of the Meridian Tower—one of the luxury residential properties Arya had tried to secure during her initial coup.

We bypassed the front desk entirely, Tessa using her newly restored administrator credentials to override the security elevator code straight to the penthouse suite on the forty-second floor.

The elevator doors opened with a soft chime.

The penthouse was dimly lit, echoing with the sound of breaking glass and frantic whispered arguments.

"I told you trusting Julian was a mistake!" Arya’s voice rang out sharply from the living room. "He’s an idiot, and now the entire shipping network is locked down!"

"Shut up, Arya!" Dominic shouted back, slamming a suitcase shut on the marble coffee table. "If we can just get to the airstrip by morning—"

I stepped out of the elevator foyer, my cane striking the hardwood floor with a sharp, echoing clack.

Arya and Dominic froze mid-motion.

Arya spun around, her eyes widening in sheer horror as she saw me standing there, leaning on my cane, my posture rigid and unyielding.

"V-Vincent..." Arya breathed out, stumbling backward until her legs hit the edge of the sofa. "How... how are you standing?"

"You missed a step in your planning, Arya," I said, walking slowly into the center of the room. "You assumed that because a bullet shattered my spine, my spirit broke with it."

Dominic grabbed a heavy brass statue from the side table, his face twisted in desperate rage. "You should have stayed in that wheelchair, Vin! This ends right now!"

He lunged forward like a madman, swinging the heavy metal statue directly toward my head.
