Chapter 10 - The Unseen ArchitectThree years later, the penthouse in Chicago was a distant, faded memory.

The grand skyscraper on Lake Michigan had long since been seized, auctioned off, and converted into luxury corporate offices. The name Vascari no longer struck fear into the hearts of politicians and capos across the Midwest.

Instead, on a bright, crisp autumn morning in Maine, the name meant something entirely different.

Roman walked up the wooden steps of the coastal house, carrying a two-year-old girl with dark curls and fierce, intelligent eyes perched happily on his shoulders.

"Dada, look! A seagull!" little Maya squealed, pointing out toward the ocean.

"I see it, sweetheart," Roman laughed, setting her down gently on the porch.

Celeste stepped out through the screen door, holding a tray of fresh lemonade, the morning sun catching the gold wedding band resting securely on her left ring finger—a new ring, bought with honest money earned from a lumber yard and a legal consultancy she still ran quietly from her home office.

She paused, watching Roman lift their daughter into the air, hearing the genuine, booming sound of his laughter echoing across the cliffs.

She had set out to destroy Roman Vascari the crime boss.

Instead, without firing a single shot, she had built a father.

Roman caught her looking, walked over, and wrapped his free arm around her waist, pulling her close against his side.

"What are you smiling at?" he asked, kissing the top of her head.

Celeste looked out over the endless expanse of the ocean, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"Just thinking about architectural design," she murmured, a mysterious smile playing on her lips. "Some foundations are built to last forever."

Roman smiled, tightening his grip on his family, finally understanding the true power of a woman who didn't need a weapon to conquer the world.
