CHAPTER 2 — The Impossible Discovery

Thirty-one days after starting the job...
Everything changed.
It began like every ordinary morning.
Emily entered quietly carrying fresh linens.
Alexander remained motionless.
Machines hummed softly.
Outside, rain tapped against the enormous windows.
Nothing seemed unusual.
Until she began changing his diaper.
She carefully lifted the blanket.
Rolled him slightly onto his side.
Then suddenly...
Her hands froze.
There...
On Alexander's left thigh...
Was a fresh bruise.
Dark purple.
Perfectly shaped like fingerprints.
Someone had grabbed him violently.
Emily's heart pounded.
Impossible.
Paralyzed patients don't bruise themselves.
Someone had touched him.
Recently.
Very recently.
She immediately checked the medical chart.
Nothing.
No mention.
No accidents.
No injections in that area.
No explanation whatsoever.
When she questioned another nurse...
The woman suddenly became pale.
Then whispered only four words.
"Forget you saw it."
Before walking away.
Emily couldn't sleep that night.
The next morning...
She examined his body more carefully.
Another bruise.
Different place.
Fresh.
This time...
There were tiny needle marks nearby.
Not part of any treatment.
Someone was injecting Alexander with something.
Secretly.
She secretly photographed the injuries.
Before she could hide her phone...
Dr. Warren suddenly entered.
"What are you doing?"
Emily nearly dropped everything.
"Routine documentation."
His eyes remained fixed on her.
For several terrifying seconds.
Then...
He smiled.
A smile without warmth.
"You care too much."
"That can be dangerous."
Later that afternoon...
Emily overheard Damien Blackwood speaking on the phone outside the room.
His voice was calm.
Cold.
"If the dosage stays consistent..."
"...he'll never wake up."
Emily's blood turned to ice.
Dosage?
Wake up?
Her breathing stopped.
Was someone intentionally keeping Alexander unconscious?
Before she could move...
A security guard appeared behind her.
"You shouldn't be standing here."
Emily forced herself to smile.
"I was just passing."
The guard stared for several uncomfortable seconds.
Then escorted her away.
She suddenly realized...
Someone had been watching her all along.
That evening...
She secretly searched Alexander's medication cabinet.
Everything matched the records.
Except one tiny unlabeled syringe hidden behind the emergency supplies.
No barcode.
No hospital markings.
Nothing.
She slipped it into her pocket.
If she was right...
This tiny syringe could destroy an entire empire.
But someone else noticed it was missing.
Hidden inside the ventilation system...
A microscopic camera silently recorded everything.
Across the estate...
Damien watched the footage live.
His expression changed instantly.
"She's becoming a problem."
He turned toward the head of security.
May you like
"Make sure the nurse has an accident."
Emily had just unknowingly signed her own death warrant.
