CHAPTER 1 — "Sign the Papers… If You Dare."

The Carter mansion had witnessed countless business deals worth billions.
But tonight…
It was about to witness the destruction of an entire family.
Crystal chandeliers illuminated the endless dining table as Evelyn Carter, dressed in an elegant emerald gown, sat alone at one end.
She didn't smile.
She didn't cry.
She simply waited.
The massive front doors opened.
Her husband, Daniel Carter, walked in confidently with one hand wrapped around the waist of a visibly pregnant young woman.
Beside them stood Daniel's mother, Margaret, wearing the same arrogant smile Evelyn had grown to hate.
Margaret looked around the mansion as if it already belonged to her son.
"It won't be much longer," she whispered proudly.
Daniel gently rubbed the pregnant woman's belly before looking at Evelyn.
"You already know why we're here."
Without answering, Evelyn calmly pushed a black leather folder across the glass table.
Daniel frowned.
"What is this?"
"Open it."
Inside were divorce papers.
Silence filled the room.
Margaret burst into laughter.
"So you finally understand your place."
The pregnant woman smiled shyly.
"I'm sorry... I never wanted things to happen this way."
Evelyn looked directly into her eyes.
"No...
You wanted exactly this."
Daniel sighed dramatically.
"I never loved you, Evelyn."
"I stayed because your father's company was useful."
"But now Amelia is carrying my son."
"I deserve a real family."
The words should have shattered her.
Instead...
She smiled.
That smile made Daniel uncomfortable.
Margaret slammed the table.
"What are you waiting for?"
"Sign the divorce!"
Without another word, Daniel grabbed the pen.
His signature covered the final page.
The moment he finished...
Evelyn slowly picked up the diamond wedding ring from the table.
She placed it beside the papers.
"Congratulations."
"You've just made the biggest mistake of your life."
Daniel laughed.
"You're bluffing."
"Without me, you'll lose everything."
Evelyn stood gracefully.
For the first time that night...
She looked completely free.
Then she quietly said,
"Tomorrow morning...
May you like
You'll find out who actually owns everything you think you've stolen."
Daniel's confident smile slowly disappeared.
