CHAPTER 7 — “The Brother No One Was Supposed to Find.”

The old photograph slipped from Daniel's trembling hands.
Twin boys.
Same eyes.
Same birthday.
Same tiny hospital bracelets.
Only one difference...
One had been raised inside a billionaire's mansion.
The other...
had vanished without a trace.
The lobby doors suddenly opened.
A tall man in a black coat stepped inside.
He looked almost identical to Daniel.
The same jawline.
The same dark hair.
The same piercing blue eyes.
The room gasped.
"It can't be..."
Daniel whispered.
The stranger smiled sadly.
"My name is Michael."
"I've waited thirty years to say that."
Daniel felt his legs weaken.
"My brother..."
Michael nodded.
"Our mother searched for both of us."
"But only one child was returned."
Helen burst into tears.
"My baby..."
She rushed toward Michael, wrapping her arms around him as though trying to recover three decades in one embrace.
Michael hugged her tightly.
"I promised I'd come back."
"I just needed proof."
Daniel stood frozen.
"Where have you been all these years?"
Michael looked directly at him.
"I grew up in foster homes."
"I slept in shelters."
"I worked construction, cleaned warehouses, and joined the military just to survive."
His voice hardened.
"While you lived in luxury..."
"I was told my family had abandoned me."
Daniel lowered his head in shame.
"I'm sorry..."
Michael shook his head.
"You didn't steal my life."
"Someone else did."
His eyes locked onto Margaret.
Police officers tightened their grip as she trembled in handcuffs.
"I sold one child..."
Margaret whispered.
"...because two heirs were too dangerous."
The entire lobby erupted.
Daniel stared at her in horror.
"You sold my brother?"
Margaret nodded weakly.
"I needed only one heir."
"I couldn't risk sharing the Carter fortune."
Even the detectives looked stunned.
But before anyone could react...
A loud clap echoed through the lobby.
Everyone turned.
The Chairman of Carter Global...
was applauding.
Slowly.
May you like
Calmly.
With a smile no one had ever seen before.
