CHAPTER 2 — "The Billion-Dollar Trap."
The next morning...
Daniel arrived early at Carter Global Headquarters, ready to announce his new life.
Employees greeted him politely.
Everything seemed normal.
Margaret walked beside him proudly while Amelia admired the enormous company lobby.
"I'll be the CEO's wife soon," Amelia whispered.
The elevator doors opened.
Daniel pressed the button for the executive floor.
Nothing happened.
He tried again.
Still nothing.
A security officer stepped forward.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Carter."
"Your executive access has been revoked."
Daniel laughed.
"There must be a mistake."
"I'm the CEO."
The guard remained expressionless.
"Not anymore."
Margaret exploded.
"Do you know who my son is?"
Before anyone answered...
Every screen inside the lobby suddenly lit up.
A live board meeting began.
One by one...
The directors stood.
Then a familiar voice echoed through the building.
"Good morning, everyone."
Evelyn.
She walked into the boardroom wearing a black tailored suit instead of last night's evening gown.
Every executive immediately stood to welcome her.
Daniel froze.
"What is this?"
The Chairman smiled calmly.
"As required by the late founder's confidential trust..."
"We officially recognize Ms. Evelyn Carter as the sole majority shareholder and permanent Chairwoman of Carter Global."
The room erupted into applause.
Daniel's face turned white.
"No..."
"That's impossible."
Evelyn looked directly into the camera.
"My father never trusted greed."
"So before he died..."
"He transferred every controlling share into a secret trust."
"The only beneficiary..."
"...was never my husband."
"It was me."
Margaret staggered backward.
Amelia instinctively covered her stomach.
Then Evelyn revealed one final truth that left the entire company speechless.
"The baby you're celebrating..."
"...isn't even Daniel's."
The boardroom fell silent.
Daniel slowly turned toward Amelia.
