Chapter 7 - The Master Plan Unfolds

My breath caught in my throat. The world seemed to tilt beneath my feet.
Loss of the house. Loss of my grandfather's legacy. All because I printed a foolish menu to prove a point to an ungrateful woman.
"You're working together," I whispered, the sickening reality crashing down on me. "Juliette didn't just come here for a Fourth of July barbecue. She was baiting me."
Julian smirked, adjusting his cufflinks. "Juliette is an idiot who wanted free steak. But I am a businessman who wanted twenty acres of prime commercial development land worth $5 million. She provided the dramatic conflict; you provided the illegal commercial offer on video; and I provided the legal trap door. By tomorrow evening, my demolition crew arrives to break ground on the new Vance Luxury Resort."
Julian turned on his heel, walked back to his black sedan, and drove away, leaving me standing alone on the porch with the red legal injunction fluttered in the warm summer wind.
For ten minutes, I sat on the porch steps, my head buried in my hands. The shock was overwhelming. I had played right into their hands. My pride, my desire to humiliate Juliette on social media, had handed Julian the exact ammunition he needed to tear down my grandfather’s legacy.
No, I thought, suddenly snapping my head up. No. Samuel Vance wasn't a fool. And neither am I.
I stood up, walked into my office, and locked the door. I pulled down the master architectural blueprints of Freedom Ridge Estate that my grandfather had drawn by hand in 1984.
I spread the thick yellowed paper across my desk. I pulled out my magnifying glass and began studying every single line, every legal codicil, every land survey stamp from forty years ago.
For four agonizing hours, I poured through land deeds, boundary surveys, and probate records.
And then, at 3:15 AM on Sunday morning... I found it.
A tiny, hidden detail buried in the original 1984 County Land Survey Map that everyone—Julian, Juliette, and even the probate judge—had completely overlooked.
A slow, cold smile spread across my face.

I picked up my phone and dialed my attorney, Arthur’s corporate legal team, and Sheriff Thomas.
"Sheriff," I said, my voice completely devoid of fear. "I need you to bring three deputies, a county land surveyor, and a moving truck to Freedom Ridge at 4:00 PM today. We’re about to hold the final meal service."
