CHAPTER 5 – The Woman Everyone Called a Criminal

Ryan refused to leave the ballroom.
Not until he learned the whole truth.
The woman in blue looked into the eyes of every guest before speaking.
"My name is Isabella Monroe."
The name sent a wave of whispers across the room.
Some of the older executives immediately stood up.
One even lowered his head in respect.
Emily stared in disbelief.
"You... you're Isabella Monroe?"
The woman who had once been celebrated as America's youngest self-made billionaire...
The woman whose empire mysteriously collapsed overnight...
The woman every newspaper had branded a fraud.
Isabella slowly nodded.
"I lost my company in one week."
"I lost my husband in one day."
"And I lost my son in one night."
Her voice never cracked.
But every word cut deeper than the last.
She turned toward Patricia.
"You forged documents."
"You bribed doctors."
"You paid witnesses."
"And when I refused to sign over my company..."
"You arranged the accident that nearly killed me."
Patricia laughed nervously.
"You have no proof."
Without saying another word, Isabella pressed a small remote.
Every television screen inside the ballroom lit up.
A twenty-nine-year-old surveillance video appeared.
The guests watched in stunned silence as a younger Patricia secretly handed a black duffel bag full of cash to a hospital administrator.
Then another clip appeared.
A nurse wheeled a newborn baby out of the maternity ward...
And placed him into Patricia Whitmore's waiting limousine.
Ryan couldn't breathe.
His entire childhood...
His identity...
His family...
Everything had been built on a crime.
Then Isabella revealed the final recording.
A hidden conversation.
Patricia's voice echoed through the ballroom.
"If Isabella survives... make sure no one ever finds the boy."
The room erupted into chaos.
Several guests immediately stood up and walked away from Patricia.
Her own business partners began deleting contracts from their phones.
Within minutes...
The richest woman in the room had become the most hated.
But Isabella wasn't finished yet.
She looked directly at Emily.
"I still haven't told everyone what you did."
Emily's legs nearly gave out.
May you like
Because the envelope Isabella still held contained one last secret...
One that could send Emily to prison for the rest of her life.
