CHAPTER 7 – The Twin Who Was Never Missing

The detective carefully placed the second DNA report on the table.

No one dared to breathe.

Isabella's hands trembled as she opened it.

Ryan stood beside her, afraid of what they were about to discover.

"You said... twins?"

The detective nodded.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Our forensic team verified the hospital's original records."

He slid a faded delivery log across the table.

"At 2:14 a.m., you gave birth to Baby A."

"At 2:21 a.m., you delivered Baby B."

Isabella's knees nearly buckled.

"No..."

"I only remember holding one baby."

"Because," the detective replied quietly, "someone sedated you after the second delivery."

Every eye turned toward Patricia.

She remained silent.

The detective continued.

"We searched the abandoned storage room beneath the old hospital."

"There, we found boxes of documents that were supposed to be destroyed."

Among them...

A photograph.

It showed Patricia leaving the maternity ward.

One baby was in her arms.

Another baby was being carried by a man whose face had been blacked out with marker.

Ryan stared at the picture.

"So..."

"My brother survived?"

The detective hesitated.

"We believe so."

"But that's not the shocking part."

He revealed another file.

A recent passport application.

Issued...

Only three months ago.

The attached photograph showed a man in his late twenties.

He had Ryan's eyes.

Ryan's jawline.

Ryan's smile.

The only difference...

A thin scar ran across his left eyebrow.

The detective whispered,

"We believe your twin has been living under another identity for nearly thirty years."

The ballroom erupted into disbelief.

But before anyone could speak, every phone in the room buzzed at the exact same moment.

Ryan looked at his screen.

An unknown number.

May you like

One message.

"Don't look for me... unless you're ready to lose your mother again."
