CHAPTER 3 – THE REAL KILLER ENTERS THE PRISON

Three months later...
Graystone Prison received a new inmate.
The guards whispered all morning.
"Big arrest."
"Federal case."
"Corrupt businessman."
Emily barely paid attention.
Until she saw him.
The moment the man walked into the cafeteria...
Her coffee cup slipped from her hands.
Crash.
The prisoner looked up.
Their eyes met.
His confident smile vanished instantly.
Emily recognized him.
He had testified at her trial ten years earlier.
Daniel Brooks.
Michael's business partner.
The man who had sworn under oath that Michael feared his own wife.
Back then, Daniel wore expensive suits and smiled for television cameras.
Now...
He wore prison gray.
And for the first time...
He looked terrified.
That night, someone quietly slid a note under Emily's cell door.
Three words.
"Meet me. Midnight."
Against every instinct, Emily went.
In the abandoned prison laundry room, Daniel was already waiting.
His hands trembled.
"I don't have much time."
Emily stared at him with hatred.
"You destroyed my life."
Daniel nodded.
"I know."
"You lied."
"I know."
"You let an innocent woman rot in prison."
Tears filled Daniel's eyes.
"I wasn't supposed to."
Emily stepped closer.
"Then tell me who killed my husband."
Daniel looked over his shoulder.
"They're still watching."
"Who?"
He whispered a single name.
Emily's blood turned to ice.
It wasn't a gangster.
It wasn't a rival company.
It wasn't even someone outside the family.
It was...
Her own brother.
Before Emily could speak—
A deafening gunshot echoed through the prison corridor.
Daniel collapsed backward.
Blood spread across the concrete floor.
With his final breath, he grabbed Emily's sleeve and whispered,
"Your brother... wasn't the mastermind..."
"There was someone... above him..."
His hand went limp.
The prison sirens exploded.
Guards stormed the room.
And once again...
Emily was found standing over a dead body.
Covered in blood.
May you like
For the second time in her life.
The nightmare had begun all over again.
