CHAPTER 5 – THE SON WHO VANISHED

Emily had one friend left inside Graystone.

An elderly inmate named Nora.

Nora had once worked in the courthouse records office before being imprisoned for fraud.

She knew how paperwork disappeared.

She knew how powerful people buried truth.

When Emily showed her the button, Nora’s face changed.

"H.V. isn’t just the warden."

"What do you mean?"

Nora lowered her voice.

"Before she ran this prison, Helen Voss worked private security for Raven Holdings."

Emily froze.

"Project Raven..."

Nora nodded slowly.

"That company was investigated ten years ago for illegal land deals, missing witnesses, and bribed judges."

Emily’s breath caught.

"My husband found the documents."

"And they killed him for it," Nora whispered.

Emily gripped the metal table.

"Then why frame me?"

Nora’s eyes filled with pity.

"Because you were easy."

A grieving wife.

A bloody knife.

A perfect story.

Nora risked everything to access an old prison computer.

After hours of searching hidden court archives, she found something strange.

Emily’s son, Noah Carter, had not been living with Thomas Reed.

Not for years.

His school records ended abruptly when he was thirteen.

His social security activity vanished.

No address.

No medical records.

No driver’s license.

Nothing.

Emily could barely breathe.

"My son disappeared?"

Nora kept scrolling.

Then she found one final record.

A sealed juvenile file.

Authorized by Judge Malcolm Pierce.

The same judge who had sentenced Emily.

The file contained only one visible line:

NOAH CARTER – PROTECTIVE TRANSFER – RAVEN PROGRAM

Emily covered her mouth.

Her husband was dead.

Her life was stolen.

And now her son had been taken too.

That night, Emily made a promise in the dark.

She would not die in prison.

She would not stay silent.

And she would find Noah...

May you like

Even if she had to tear Graystone apart brick by brick.
