CHAPTER 10 – The Truth That No One Saw Coming

The police launched the largest manhunt in state history.

Private jets.

Coast Guard ships.

Federal agents.

Every airport was locked down.

Yet Evelyn Blackwood vanished.

Three weeks later...

Emily received an envelope with no return address.

Inside was a photograph.

It showed Ryan, Marcus... and Evelyn.

Standing beside them was a little girl.

The date on the back read:

"Twenty-five years ago."

Emily turned the photo over.

A handwritten message read:

"You were looking for the mastermind... but you never asked who the first victim was."

Confused, Emily rushed to Detective Mason.

Forensic experts examined the photograph.

Then the DNA report from Ryan's hidden vault arrived.

The results stunned everyone.

The little girl in the picture...

was Emily.

Her entire life had been built on a lie.

She wasn't chosen by chance.

She had been born inside Evelyn's criminal empire.

As a child, she had been secretly adopted after her biological parents died under mysterious circumstances.

Years later, when she unknowingly inherited her biological family's fortune...

Evelyn ordered Ryan to marry her and finish what had started decades earlier.

Emily had spent years believing she was hunting strangers.

In reality...

she had been uncovering the conspiracy that destroyed her own family.

Six months later, Ryan and Marcus were sentenced to life in prison without parole.

But Evelyn Blackwood was never found.

Some believe she died while fleeing the country.

Others swear they still see an elegant elderly woman quietly visiting children's hospitals under a different name.

On the anniversary of her surgery, Emily stood outside the hospital where she had almost died.

She looked at the scar hidden beneath her hair and smiled—not because the nightmare was over, but because she had survived long enough to expose the truth.

As she turned to leave, her phone vibrated.

An unknown number.

One new message.

"You exposed one network. There are three more."

Emily stared at the screen.

Then it deleted itself.

She looked up at the empty street.

Someone was watching.

And somewhere in the shadows...

the next chapter had already begun.
