CHAPTER 2 – The Nurse Who Refused to Stay Silent
Hours later, Emily finally opened her eyes.
Everyone celebrated.
"Your surgery was a success!" the doctors smiled.
Ryan rushed into the room carrying flowers, tears streaming down his face like the perfect husband.
"My miracle," he whispered as he kissed her forehead.
Emily stared at him without saying a word.
Behind his smile, she now saw something she had never noticed before.
Fear.
That night, unable to sleep, Emily noticed a young nurse quietly entering her room.
The nurse checked the monitors before slipping a folded piece of paper beneath Emily's pillow.
Without speaking, she whispered only four words.
"Don't trust your husband."
Before Emily could respond, the nurse hurried away.
With trembling hands, Emily unfolded the note.
Inside was a small flash drive taped to the paper.
Written underneath were words that made her blood run cold.
"I heard everything in the operating room. They're deleting the evidence tonight. If you're reading this... run before morning."
Emily's breathing became frantic.
She looked toward the hallway.
Ryan was standing outside her hospital room.
Smiling.
But he wasn't looking at her.
He was watching the nurse... with the expression of a man who had just realized someone knew the truth.
