CHAPTER 3 – The Hospital Went Silent

The lights died all at once.

The heart monitor beside Emily kept beeping, but the hallway outside her room fell into a terrifying darkness.

Emily clutched the flash drive in her fist.

Then she heard Ryan’s voice.

“Where is she?”

The nurse whispered, “You need to leave. Security is coming.”

Ryan laughed softly.

“Security? I own half this hospital.”

Emily’s blood turned cold.

The nurse rushed into the room and locked the door.

“Can you stand?” she asked.

Emily shook her head, tears filling her eyes.

The nurse grabbed a wheelchair.

“My name is Grace,” she said. “And your husband paid a surgeon to make sure you never woke up with your memory.”

Emily froze.

Grace pushed her toward the emergency exit.

But as they reached the stairwell, Ryan appeared at the bottom of the stairs.

His flowers were gone.

So was his fake smile.

“You should’ve stayed asleep, Emily.”

Then he raised something in his hand.

A hospital syringe.
