Chapter 6 - THE GHOST FROM THE PASTThe revelation hung heavily in the sterile air of the hospital room.

Julian Thorne. A name Arthur had tried to bury alongside the memory of his corporate betrayal. Five years ago, Arthur had caught Julian systematically draining the company’s R&D funds and had him prosecuted, resulting in a five-year prison sentence.
"Julian was released from federal prison six months ago," Marcus noted, sliding a surveillance photograph across the bedside table. "And according to traffic cameras near your estate, his car was spotted parked three blocks away from your mansion every single night at midnight."
Arthur stared at the grainy photograph. A sleek black sedan idling in the shadows of the elite neighborhood, perfectly aligned with the timing of Leo’s daily feedings through the service hatch.
"It wasn't just about money," Arthur realized, his jaw tightening so hard a muscle twitched in his cheek. "It was a vendetta. They planned this together before I even married her. Victoria was his inside agent, planted to destroy my family from the inside out."
"And there's more," Marcus added hesitantly. "Julian didn't just target your estate. Last week, right before Leo was found, Sterling Industries' main proprietary servers experienced a massive, silent data breach. Someone downloaded the complete blueprint designs for your next-generation quantum microchips—worth billions."
Arthur stood up slowly, the leather chair scraping against the floor. The grief of the past three years transformed entirely into cold, calculated corporate vengeance.
"They thought they broke me by taking my son," Arthur said softly, his voice dripping with venomous calm. "Now, they've declared war on everything I've built."
He turned back to the bed. Leo was watching him with big, intelligent eyes, sensing the shift in the room.

"Daddy? Are the bad people going to come back?" Leo asked quietly, setting his spoon down.
Arthur walked over, sitting on the edge of the hospital bed, and took his son’s small, fragile hands in his own. "Never again, Leo. I promise you, nobody will ever touch you again. And the people who did this? They are going to lose everything they ever dreamed of owning."
